Les Bourgs Hospice, a much-needed non-profit organisation providing essential hospice care in Guernsey, recently faced a challenge familiar to many organisations: an ageing access control system in need of an upgrade. Thanks to a remarkable community effort spearheaded by G4S and supported by Grosvenor Technology, Third Millennium, and Assa Abloy, the hospice now has a modern, secure, and user-friendly access control solution.

Addressing Failing Security at Les Bourgs

The hospice’s existing access control system was becoming increasingly outdated and difficult to maintain. But with the rising cost of components and limited availability of access cards, finding a solution that was within the budget constraints of the hospice posed a significant challenge. The need was clear, the facility required a reliable and modern solution to ensure the safety and security of residents, visitors, and staff – is was just a  question of how this was to be achieved.

A Collaboration of Goodwill

The plight facing Les Bourgs was brought to the attention of Keith Le Boutillier of G4S, who reached out to Grosvenor Technology, Third Millennium, and Assa Abloy, who joined forces to provide a comprehensive access control upgrade.

Each company donated their expertise and products free of charge;

Grosvenor Technology: Provided the core of the new system with its powerful yet easy-to-use JanusC4 access control platform.

Third Millennium: Recommended their user-friendly RX2 advanced OSDP access control reader for a seamless transition.

Assa Abloy: Supplied their Aperio wireless locking solution to secure an additional access-controlled door without disruptive cabling.

The entire system was pre-configured and tested before installation to minimise disruption to the hospice. Third Millennium also supplied pre-programmed credentials and these were issued to all staff, ensuring a smooth transition.

Securing A Safer Future

The upgraded access control system provides enhanced security for everyone at Les Bourgs Hospice, offering peace of mind to staff, residents, and their families. The intuitive Janus C4 system also simplifies day-to-day security management, freeing up staff to focus on providing essential care.

For all businesses involved, creating a safer environment for such a worthy establishment was important. Now the hospice has a cutting-edge access control system that would have otherwise been beyond their budget. The chosen technology will also help reduce ongoing costs, ensuring that resources can be focused on providing essential care and support to patients and their families.

Speaking from the newly secured premises, Rob Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Les Bourgs Hospice, commented; “We have received superb service from [the team] throughout the entire process. The work they have done has not only provided us with cutting-edge security but has also significantly reduced the financial burden on the hospice. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and expertise.”

UK Sales Manager, Bradley Cohen, took the lead on Grosvenor Technology’s role in the upgrade. “We’re incredibly grateful to be involved in this project. It’s incredibly rewarding to see JanusC4 being used to support such a vital community resource. The system’s ease of use and advanced features will ensure that Les Bourgs Hospice remains a safe and secure environment for everyone.”

Grosvenor Technology is committed to making spaces safer, more secure and delivering an access control system that’s not only simple to install, but easy to manage in the long term. JanusC4 is ideally suited for healthcare facilities such as Les Bourgs.
